Red

Well, this is a three peice sculpture that I created from polystyerine, thick card, tissue paper and pva glue. The idea came from an entire sketch book of drawings and photos I took on a holiday to the peak district. It originated from throwing a pebble into water and the ripples expanding outwards from that point. I took a lot of inspiration from artists such as Peter Randal Page and Isamu Noguchi in this project.

It was mathmaticly designed to be stood up in a line and when yuo walk round it, at a certain point all the peices would align to form a solid circle. However after some tests with smaller models and the completed worK I decided I liked it for what it was, I have taken many photos of it in many arrangments but this is my fave. Its quite large, the biggest peice being the size of an average kichen table.

The idea being that people instinctivly like to look into things with holes, curiosity will make them walk round to see if the peices line up. Therefore getting the viewer to interact and engae wiht the artwork.
